MIIT encourages the transformation and upgrading of industry

On March 5, Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, presided over a symposium on the expansion of the auto industry. The meeting pointed out that it is necessary to focus on problem research and trend research and judgment, guide enterprises to actively prepare for response, and systematically plan strategic measures to promote industrial transformation and upgrading. This conference is of great significance to promote the transformation and upgrading of the automobile industry.

NDRC will guide the cancellation of limits on auto purchases 

On March 8, NDRC expressed that the government will guide the continued liberalization of the new energy vehicle purchase restriction policy. Considering that the Tier-3 and Tier-4 cities and trade-in markets are the main forces for future market growth. The Tier-1 and Tier-2 city markets, especially in cities implementing the restricted purchase policies. The government will continue to carry out auto sales to the countryside and auto trade-in, and guide some places and cities to continue to gradually cancel the restrictions on the purchase of new energy vehicles and increased quotas and will further promote the healthy and stable development of the auto market in 2021.

California bill will require all self-driving cars to use zero-emission vehicles by 2025

In mid-February, the California Assembly introduced a bill requiring all self-driving cars to achieve zero emissions by 2025. This is also the first case in the formulation of zero-carbon emission policies for automobiles across the world. Currently, European and American intelligent connected vehicle policies and regulations have been in the forefront.

Auto sales in February increased 3.6 times year-on-year, and the future will remain stable and positive

In February, China's automobile production and sales reached 1.50 million units and 1.46 million units respectively, an increase of 4.2 times and 3.6 times respectively year-on-year. CAAM said that on the one hand, the impact of the epidemic in February last year led to a low level of production and sales; on the other hand, the current market demand is still recovering.  In terms of passenger vehicles, the production and sales reached 1.16 million units and 1.16 million units in February, down 39.1% and 43.5% comparing with those of previous month and 4.8 times and 4.1 times higher than those of the same period last year. In terms of new energy vehicles, the production and sales reached 124,000 units and 110,000 units in February, a year-on-year increase of 7.2 times and 5.8 times respectively.

Notice of Jiaozuo on Printing and Distributing Several Policies of Jiaozuo City to Speed up the Construction of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure

On March 9, the People's Government of Jiaozuo City, Henan Province issued the "Notice on Several Policies for Accelerating the Construction of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in Jiaozuo City". The notice proposed that fast charging piles with power of not less than 60 kilowatts per pile should be built along the trunk roads.

Guangdong Association for Standardization issued two standards for recycling of scrapped batteries

On March 10, the Guangdong Association for Standardization issued association standards of "Sodium Chloride, Crude Product of Hydrometallurgical Smelting of Lithium Battery Waste" and "Sodium Chloride, Crude Product of Hydrometallurgical Smelting of Lithium Battery Waste". These two association standards require advanced and appropriate quality indicators for crude sodium sulfate and sodium chloride, unify, standardize, and improve the quality of these two intermediate products, control disorderly competition, improve economic benefits, and promote the recycling of waste batteries and the healthy development of the industry. It has a positive effect.

Public parking lots in Kunming of Yunnan will be built at a rate of 15%

It was learned in March that the public parking lots of Kunming will be equipped with a 15% ratio of new energy vehicle charging infrastructure, and there are three cooperative construction models to comprehensively improve the application level of new energy vehicles in Kunming.

Hainan: To provided subsidies to the building of battery swapping stations before 2025

On March 8, the “Guiding Opinions on Supporting the Construction of Electric Vehicle Swapping Stations in Hainan Province (Draft for Comments)” was completed. The swapping stations to be constructed during January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2025 will be provided the subsidies (15% of the investments in construction); the subsidies to battery swapping stations for private electric cars will be determined based on interim management measures. In accordance with the principle of territorial management, the province and city (county) will bear 50% of the subsidy respectively.

VW announced its new strategy for EVs 

Volkswagen held a brand strategy release online and announced a new strategy called ACCELERATE. Volkswagen will launch at least one electric vehicle model every year from 2021. It is hoped that by 2030, more than 50% of VW sales in the US and China will be occupied by pure electric products and that in Europe will be 70%.

NIO and Sinopec will jointly build the second-generation battery swapping stations in April

The second-generation NIO battery swapping station will be formally put into use at the Beijing Sinopec gas station on April 15. NIO will increase the total number of battery swapping stations nationwide to 500 by the end of 2021.

SAIC Roewe Ei5 starts to use Aulton’s battery swapping system

On March 11, Aulton New Energy and SAIC Passenger Vehicle signed a strategic cooperation memorandum. The two parties will focus on the battery swapping mode in Shanghai to create a new joint strategic framework covering battery swapping models and battery swapping service networks.

Polestar will explore 5 new markets in Asia Pacific in 2021 

Polestar announced that it will add five markets in the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Kong of China, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, to further expand the market. In addition to the previously announced expansion programs for the three European markets, Polestar's global footprint will be expanded to 18 markets by the end of 2021.

GAC Aion releases the battery system safety technology

On March 10, GAC Aion released a new generation of power battery safety technology-battery shell system safety technology. Volvo will use Android infotainment systems on new models

In 2017, Volvo announced that it will cooperate with Google and Android to develop a new Android Infotainment system. By 2019, its products had been applied on XC40 RECHARGE for the first time. Recently, Volvo had announced that it will use this system on its existing products.It means that many of its 2022 models will use this Android car system.

BMW will release its new generation iDrive 8.0 infotainment system

On March 15, the new generation of BMW iDrive 8.0 will make its global premiere through online live broadcast. The biggest highlight of the system is the comprehensively upgraded information processing capabilities. Automobiles using the system will learn more information before the driver, such as hazard warnings and predicted parking spaces at the destination.

Audi uses high-precision data to send real-time road information

A few days ago, Audi formally announced that it will use high-precision group data to improve the “Ground hazard alert” (LHI) function in its Car2X. It is reported that the improved LHI function can estimate all real-time friction based on the tire slip data of its own vehicle and analyze whether the ground is in the phenomenon of icing on the road and uploaded to the Cloud. After processing, the Cloud will send a reminder to the surrounding vehicles to inform the driver of the icy road surface.

XPENG P5 will use vehicular Lidar

XPENG will launch the world's first electric vehicle equipped with Lidar in the second half of 2021. It is the third model of XPENG. The company is expected to launch the fourth electric model in 2022.

VW’s autonomous driving vehicles tested in Germany will be launched in 2025

Volkswagen will use the technology developed by the autonomous driving technology company Argo AI to conduct field tests of autonomous vehicles. The model is a highly automated version of the Volkswagen ID.BUZZ pure electric MPV, and it is also one of the Volkswagen’s models to be launched for autonomous taxi service in 2025.
