MIIT announced the results of supervision and examination of fossil fuel vehicles 
 
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced results of the recent supervision and inspection of production consistency. In the supervision and inspection of traditional automobile products in four categories, including trucks, special vehicles, trailers, and passenger vehicles, 24 companies had production consistency problems.
Xiao Yaqing presided over the joint meeting on energy saving and new energy vehicle industry development
On January 19, Joint Conference on Development of Energy-Saving and New Energy Vehicle Industry was held in Beijing. Xiao Yaqing, the minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. The meeting summarized the works in 2020 and the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and conducted in-depth discussions on measures to implement the New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Program (2021-2035), and clarified the key tasks for the development of the new energy vehicle industry in 2021.
 
MIIT: To accelerate the deployment on Internet of Vehicles  
 
On January 20, the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that they will continue to strengthen the collaboration with Beijing and give strong support to Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center. At the same time, it will continue to accelerate the deployments on 5G, Industry Internet, and Internet of Vehicles etc., to build Beijing a benchmark city for new infrastructure construction.
 
NDRC: To encourage the issuing of more license plates in cities with purchase restrictions
 
On January 19, National Development and Reform Commission expressed that the central government will focus on improving residents' consumption ability, improving the consumption environment, and finding new growth points for consumption. Of which, it will promote the transformation of consumer goods such as automobiles from purchase management to use management, and encourage cities with purchase restrictions to appropriately increase the issuing of license plates.
 
The total number of charging infrastructure in home reaches 1.68 million units 
 
As of December 2020, the member units of the China Charging Infrastructure Alliance had totally built 807,000 public charging piles. Of which, 112,000 public charging piles were increased in December 2020 comparing with that of November, 2020. As of December 2020, the cumulative number of charging infrastructure (public + private) nationwide was 1.68 million units, an increase of 37.9% year-on-year. From a geographical point of view, the characteristic of the relatively concentrated public charging infrastructure constructions still exists. Public charging infrastructure in the Top 10 areas of Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Anhui, Hubei, Henan, and Hebei accounted for 72.3% of the total.

Hainan's new energy vehicle ownership ranks the first in home
 
On January 16, it was learned from the Hainan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology that 31,200 new energy vehicles were newly registered in the province in 2020, fulfilling more than three times than the annual task; the number of new energy vehicles in use reached 62,000 units, accounting for up to 4.2% of the total and it is about 2.4 percentage points higher than the national average level; the promotion of new energy vehicles for individual users has accounted for 73.4% of the total promotion, and the pace of new energy vehicles entering thousands of households is accelerating.
 
More than half of the hydrogen refueling stations in home are losing money: The costs are high and no scale effects had been formed
 
As of the end of December 2020, China has built a total of 118 hydrogen refueling stations. However, according to industry sources, almost all of the more than 70 hydrogen refueling stations currently in operation are at a loss.
 
Hefei will invest Rmb 2 billion in LeapMotor
 
On January 22, it is reported that Hefei City has determined to invest in LeapMotor. The investments is about Rmb 2 billion yuan. If the investment is finalized, LeapMotor will become another new auto maker that has received investments from Hefei city after Nio.

On January 15, Guangxi Hezhou Finance Bureau issued the Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Measures for Providing of Financial Subsidies for the Construction of New Energy Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and Supporting Operation Services in Hezhou City. The subsidies for the construction of charging facilities and the operation of charging facilities shall not be exceed 20% of the total costs of the facilities.

BAIC BluePark completed the A-round finance of Rmb 300 million 
 
On January 21, BAIC BluePark stated that its battery charging and swapping platform had completed the A+round of financing for Rmb 300 million. The funds will be mainly used for market expansion, R&D and innovation of new-generation products, and building an opened and win-win energy service ecosystem.
 
Nio introduced new battery swapping policy 
 
NIO had released the latest battery swap policy. From January 22, 2021, the first owner of a NIO model can enjoy 4 free battery swaps (free of charging fees and service fees) per month on the basis of retaining the household charging pile. Users of household charging piles can enjoy 6 free battery swaps per month.
 
Baoneng and Zotye will conduct further negotiation for cooperation
 
On January 20, it is reported that Baoneng had conducted substantive negotiations with Linyi Zotye for cooperation. And Baoneng will try to launch 300 sharing cars in Linyi.
 
DFM will start to produce EVs in Egypt 
 
On January 21, it was reported that DFM and Dongfeng Research Institute had signed two agreements with Egypt to produce Nasr E70 EV in Egypt . As part of the agreement, the Chinese partner will provide the latest technologies and equipment to Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company. 
 
GAC Aion introduced super fast charging pile with power ratings of 600kW
 
It is reported that GAC had launched Aion High Power Super Fast Charging Pile with the current and voltage of 600A and 1000V respectively. Through calculation, the power of the charging pile can reach 600kW.
 
FAW Audi will build NEVs in Changchun
 
On January 18, FAW signed an agreement with Audi and Changchun Municipal People's Government for build a JV for NEVs in Changchun. The JV will introduce the PPE platform. It is a high-end pure electric vehicle platform jointly developed by Audi and Porsche. Its first plant will get investments of more than Rmb 30 billion yuan. The first model will be put into production in Changchun in 2024.

Honda cooperates with Cruise and GM to develop autonomous driving mobility service in Japan
 
On January 20, Honda Motor announced that it had signed agreement with Cruise and GM to for cooperation in the development and commercialization in October 2018. The company will cooperate with Cruise and GM on autonomous vehicles and launch the autonomous driving mobility service (MaaS) in Japan. Cruise Origin is a model jointly developed by three companies for autonomous vehicle mobility service business.
 
Geely and Tencent signed agreement for strategic cooperation in smart cockpits and autonomous driving
 
On January 19, Geely Auto announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tencent in Hangzhou. The two parties will carry out all-round strategic cooperation in areas such as smart cockpits, autonomous driving, digital marketing, digital bases, digital new businesses and low-carbon development.
 
Lenovo also wants to enter the auto field
 
On January 15, Lenovo (Beijing) Co., Ltd. was publicly authorized a patent entitled "Autonomous Driving Method, Autonomous Driving Vehicle and Autonomous Driving Management System". It indicates that it also has the program to enter the area of intelligent vehicles.
 
WM and Baidu start the joint production autonomous driving EVs
 
On January 19, WM formally started the mass production of its new intelligent pure electric SUVs(W6). They will be launched at Shanghai Auto Show in the first half of 2021. It is the third brand-new pure electric vehicle mode of WM, and it introduces the new design of WM and Baidu Apollo with autonomous driving functions in specific environments.
 
Chang’an/BOE signed agreement for building of smart cockpit
 
On January 18, Chang’an Automobile and BOE formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will establish a joint innovation laboratory, focusing on smart cockpit display technology, on-board terminal products, smart cockpit scenario exploration and user in-depth research. They will also conduct in-depth cooperation in intelligent display technology, joint innovation center, product supply, brand alliance and intelligent industry investment, etc., to create the next generation of cockpit display products.
