In the first three quarters, the year-on-year increase of CPI fell and the decrease of PPI narrowed
 
In the first three quarters, the CPI rose by 3.3% comparing with that of the same period last year, and the increase rate was 0.5% lower than that of the first half of the year. On a monthly basis, the increase of CPI comparing with that of the same month of previous year showed a downward trend. In the first three quarters, PPI fell by 2.0% compared with that of the same period last year. Of which, the PPI in third quarter declined by 1.0 percentage point comparing with that of the second quarter. And the prices of means of production fell by 3.0% comparing with that of the same period of last year, keeping the same rate of decline as that in the first half of the year; prices of petroleum, coal and other fuel processing industries fell by 13.8%.。
 
The inventory coefficient of auto dealers in September was 1.56​​
 
According to data from the China Automobile Dealers Association, the comprehensive inventory coefficient of auto dealers in September was 1.56, an increase of 4% year-on-year, and the inventory level was above the warning line. Of which, the inventory coefficient of high-end luxury & imported vehicles was 1.30, an increase of 8.3% from the previous month; the inventory coefficient of products of JVs was 1.55, a decrease of 1.3% from the previous month; the stock coefficient of independent brand products was 1.71, an increase of 1.8% from the previous month.
 
In the third quarter of 2020, the auto industry prosperity index ACI is 54
 
In the third quarter of 2020, the auto industry prosperity index (ACI) was 54. It was 39 percentage points higher than that in the first quarter of 2020, and it has recovered to the green zone; the auto industry consensus composite index was 77.82 (2010=100).It was 2.42 percentage points lower than that in the second quarter of 2020. On the whole, the operation of the automobile industry in this quarter has slowed down comparing with that of the previous quarter, and the operation of the automobile industry may go down in the future.
 
Production and sales continue to increase in China
 
Chinese automobile industry is gradually getting rid of the impact of the epidemic. According to the production and sales data from January to September, it has continued the momentum of restorative growth. It has achieved year-on-year growth for 6 consecutive months, and the decline has narrowed to less than 7%. It can be forecasted that the performance of the automobile market in the fourth quarter will also be better than that of last year, and it is expected that the business results of the whole year may be better than expectation at the beginning of the year. From the perspective of economic, policy, market and other comprehensive considerations, 2020 may be the peak bottom year of China's auto market, and it is expected to achieve recovery and positive growth in 2021.
 
Great potentials for auto consumption in Tier- 4 and Tier-5 cities
 
The report of the China Automobile Dealers Association shows that the number of automobiles in use in Tier-4 and Tier-5 cities is still low and the market potential is huge. In addition, the sales growths in Tier-4 and Tier-5 cities had increased significantly since the beginning of this year, with the proportion of auto users in total and online auto purchases both showing the  increasing trends.

MIIT encourages the building of battery swapping stations and acceleration of the construction of charging facilities
 
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is speeding up the formulation of national standard of the Safety Requirements for Battery Swapping of Electric Vehicle and supporting the formulation of group standards such as the standard for rapid swapping of integrated battery packs for electric passenger vehicles to provide the guidance to the design and development of battery swapping electric vehicles and basis for safety testing.
 
Hainan Province permits the building of private charging piles
 
Hainan Province issued a notice to standardize the construction and management process of  charging facilities for electric vehicles in residential communities. It is clear that the users who can meet the requirements of the government department can apply for building of self-use charging piles and other facilities and equipment, and property service companies should actively provide facilities.
 
Jinan will release 20 measures to promote the new energy vehicles
 
The Jinan Municipal Development and Reform Commission had issued the "Several Policies on Accelerating the Promotion and Application of New Energy Vehicles (Draft for Comments)". It includes 20 measures in 5 areas from accelerating the promotion and application of new energy passenger vehicles, accelerating the promotion and application of new energy vehicles in key fields, conducting differentiated traffic managements, improving supporting networks of infrastructure, and strengthening the supports to the development of new energy vehicle industry etc.
 
Shanxi released the incentive policies for hydrogen energy industry
 
On October 17, Changzhi City of Shanxi Province issued the Program for the Development of Hydrogen Energy Industry in Changzhi, the Action Program for the Development of Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Vehicle Industry in Changzhi, the Interim Measures for the Approval and Management of Hydrogen Refueling Stations in Changzhi, the Interim Management Measures for the Transportation of Fuel Cell Vehicles in Changzhi City, and the Detailed Rules for the Providing of Financial Subsidies for the Promotion and Application of Fuel Cell Vehicles in Changzhi City.
 
The number of charging piles in China had reached 1.42 million units
 
As of September 2020, the total number of charging piles built by the members of EVCIPA had reached 606,000 units, including 350,000 AC charging piles, 255,000 DC charging piles, and 488 AC/DC integrated charging piles. The total number of charging piles in home is 1.42 million units, up 27.2%.
 
The new JV between FAW and Audi will start production in 2024
 
China FAW and Audi AG had signed a memorandum of understanding in Changchun. The two parties will jointly establish a joint venture company to produce pure electric vehicles based on the PPE platform. The JV will start the business in 2024.

MIIT promotes the upgrades of Internet of Vehicles
 
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that it will accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the Internet of Vehicles on key expressways. At present, the Internet of Vehicles upgrade project for the entire Beijing-Shanghai Expressway has been launched. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will also promote the clarification of the operating subjects and responsibilities of the Internet of Vehicles as soon as possible, and encourage subjects in related fields to apply for frequency and commercial trials.
 
MIIT supports to build national-level pilot area in Changsha
 
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has clarified that the main tasks and goals of Changsha's national-level pilot are for Internet of Vehicles are: To deploy the cellular Internet of Vehicles C-V2X network on key highways and urban roads, combine 5G and smart city constructions, and complete upgrades of the Internet of Vehicles function in key regional transportation facilities and the enhancement of core system capabilities to drive the deployment of the entire road network.
 
Hainan Province released the first batch of roads for the open tests and demonstration application of intelligent vehicles
 
On October 13, Hainan released the first open testing and demonstration application road for intelligent vehicles, with a  total length of 129.2 kilometers and covering 4 cities including Haikou, Sanya, Wenchang, and Qionghai.

On October 16, Yutong Bus released the overall solution for smart mobility. At the same time, the new L4 self-driving bus (Xiaoyu 2.0) formally made its debut.It is the first autonomous driving bus in Chinese auto industry that supports operation without safety personnel. It is developed based on the upgrades in shape of model,sensing system, intelligent decision system, safety line executive body and the diversified human-computer interaction system etc..
 
CAIC and PATEO reached the strategic cooperation agreement
 
On October 13, China Automotive Innovation Corporation and PATEO signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
