The new energy vehicle expansion project of GAC Honda started in October
Recently, GAC Honda's new energy vehicle capacity expansion construction project (Huangpu) formally started the tendering. The total investment of the project is about Rmb 2.98 billion yuan. The project is scheduled to start in October 2021 and be completed in 2024. After completion, it will reach an annual production capacity of 120,000 new energy vehicles.
Haima Motor will focus on development of hydrogen vehicles
Haima Motor said on the interactive platform that the company’s strategic deployment will focus on hydrogen vehicles. At present, the company has completed the development of the first prototype hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, and the third-generation hydrogen fuel cell vehicle is under development and strives to launch about 2,000 units by 2025 for demonstration operation of hydrogen energy vehicles.
Xiaomi will build the headquarters and plant for automobiles in Beijing 
On August 16, it was reported that the headquarters and the first plant of Xiaomi Automobile will be basically built in Beijing. It is an important node in the preparatory work for Xiaomi's auto manufacturing.
Nio will delivery 3 new models next year
On August 12, Nio announced the second quarter results report. According to the data, Nio’s revenue in the second quarter was Rmb 8.45 billion yuan, an increase of 127.2% year-on-year and a month-on-month increase of 5.8%. It was slightly slower than the growth rate in the first quarter. In 2022, Nio will deliver three new models based on the NT 2.0 technology platform, including ET7.
Shanghai Municipal Government and CATL signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement
On August 18, according to news released by Shanghai, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and CATL signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Shanghai. According to the agreement, the two parties will comprehensively deepen cooperation in the field of new energy, and promote the implementation of related projects such as the CATL (Shanghai) Innovation Center, international functional headquarters, high-end manufacturing base, and Future Energy Research Institute. The localization of Tesla batteries is expected to further reduce costs.

FAW Hongqi will use Neusoft infotainment system in its models
Recently, the FAW Group has selected Neusoft Group as a component supplier for its designated models to supply in-vehicle infotainment systems and other products. The above-mentioned target models are expected to be mass-produced and launched in 2022. The total amount involved in the supply of in-vehicle infotainment systems by Neusoft is expected to be around Rmb 700 million.
NIO ES8 faces accident investigation
 On August 12, a user of Nio died in a traffic accident on the expressway while driving an ES8 car. The family members stated that the driver activated the autopilot function (NOP pilot status) when the accident occurred. Whether the accident was caused by NOP is still unclear, and the cause is still under investigation. But lawyers for the victims believe that NIO’s publicity of NOP functions is seriously misleading and does not protect consumers’ right to know. The difference in the understanding of the concept of assisted driving and autonomous driving between enterprises and users has become the focus of current controversy.
USA will investigate the autopilot system of Tesla 
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that based on some of Tesla's safety accidents, the US government has launched a formal investigation into Tesla's autopilot system to assess possible problems with its driver assistance system Autopilot.
Tesla and Samsung will jointly develop 5nm chips for autonomous driving
Tesla and Samsung have jointly developed a new 5nm chip for the next generation of autonomous driving computing platform HW4.0. It is scheduled to be mass-produced in the fourth quarter of 2021. The 5nm chips are currently only produced by a few companies such as TSMC and Samsung Electronics in the world.
