GAC AION and Didi will jointly develop self-driving cars 

On May 17, GAC Aion and Didi’s autonomous driving company reached a strategic cooperation to jointly develop an unmanned new energy vehicle that can be put into large-scale applications. This cooperation is the first time that Didi’s autonomous driving business has reached cooperation with a OEM. The two parties will produce mass-produced fully unmanned new energy vehicles.

BYD releases the information on its new pure electric SUV 

It is reported that BYD may start the production of a new pure electric SUV model in January 2022, the project code is UX. The new series of cars will cover three models with different  power combinations, and the size of the model will be between the Song PLUS EV and the Tang EV. The initial program is to produce 60,000 units per year.

Evoque and Discovery Sport models will be achieved electrification

It is reported that in 2024, the new generation of Evoque and Discovery Sport will be manufactured on the EMA platform, and the power systems of the new models will be electric systems in the future. It is estimated that by 2030, the sales of Land Rover's EMA-based products will account for half of the company's total sales.

Ford will produce new energy vehicles on EPA1 platform

It is reported that Ford has begun the program for building new energy vehicles in China, including sedans and SUVs. The programmed models may use the Changan EPA1 platform. In order to meet the needs of the electrification transformation of the Chinese market, using the new energy vehicle platform of the joint venture partner is undoubtedly the fastest and most effective way.

Changan NIO formally changes its company name 

A few days ago, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. issued a voluntary information disclosure announcement regarding the change of its holding subsidiary Changan Nio to Avatar Technology. Toyota will upgrade L2 system with ADAS from ZF and Mobileye 

On May 18, Toyota announced that it has selected ZF and Mobileye to develop advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).The products will be used on many vehicle platforms in the next few years. Toyota had launched the Advanced Drive system in the Japanese market, and they had been already used on high-end brand models. It is expected that the new system will be applied on popular brand models (under the TSS Zhixing safety system).

Samsung and Hyundai will jointly solve the problem of chip shortage

Recently, Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation between automotive chip demanders and suppliers. The two companies will develop next-generation ultra-efficient semiconductors, battery management chips, image sensors, and application processors for in-vehicle entertainment/information systems.

Baidu Apollo order Lidar from Hesai Technology

Recently, Baidu Apollo and Hesai Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Baidu Apollo will customize Hesai Technology's new architecture lidar for the fifth-generation fully driverless Robotaxi.

Infineon will develop advanced sensors

According to reports, Infineon and Reality AI have jointly developed advanced sensing solutions to provide hearing for vehicles. The solution adds a microphone to the existing sensor system, allowing vehicles to "see" corners and reminding vehicles to pay attention to moving objects hidden in blind spots, or emergency vehicles that are approaching but are too far away to be seen.

Apple received the HUD patent

Apple has been granted a patent called “Area Identification and Indication System”.It can be used to check what information should be displayed on the windshield and when it can be displayed.
