Two provinces stressed again that 400,000 National stage-III compliant vehicles will be eliminated in 2020

Henan Province and Shandong Province have successively issued implementation programs for the elimination of high pollution diesel trucks ( the national stage-III compliant and below). The programs clearly put forward the elimination target for national stage-III and below compliant trucks in 2020. According to statistics, Henan Province and Shandong Province will eliminate the use of more than 400,000 above-mentioned vehicles.

China Purchasing Managers Index in August was 51.0%

In August, the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) of China's manufacturing industry was 51.0%, a slight decrease of 0.1 percentage point from the previous month. It indicates that the overall manufacturing industry is operating smoothly. In terms of detailed indices, among the five segment-indices that make up the manufacturing PMI, the production index, the new order index and the supplier delivery time index are all above the critical point. And the raw material inventory index and the employee index are below the critical point.

CPI rose slightly in August, PPI's year-on-year decline continued to narrow

In August, CPI rose 2.4% comparing with that of the same month of previous year. Of which, the urban CPI rose by 2.1%, and the rural CPI rose by 3.2%; the food price increased by 11.2%, the  non-food price rose by 0.1%; the consuming goods price rose by 3.9%, and the service price fell by 0.1%. From January to August, the national consumer price rose by 3.5% comparing with that of the same period of last year. In August, the ex-factory price of national industrial producers dropped by 2.0% year-on-year and rose 0.3% from last month. On average from January to August, ex-factory price for industrial producer dropped 2.0% comparing with that of the same period of last year.

In August, the auto dealer inventory warning index was 52.8%

According to data from the China Automobile Dealers Association, the inventory warning index of auto dealers in August was 52.8%, a decrease of 9.9 percentage points from the previous month and declining 0.5 percentage point comparing with that of the same period of last year. The inventory warning index was above the line of prosperity and decline. The economic situation of automobile industry has improved, but it is still in a recession zone.

The business results of the listed auto enterprises have been announced: 9 of them had shrunk in market value

As of June 30, 9 of the 14 listed auto companies have seen shrinkage in market value. Only 5 auto companies including BYD, Changan Automobile, BAIC BluePark, JAC, and Lifan have achieved positive growth in market value. In the first half of this year, the market value of SAIC, BYD, and Geely Auto all exceeded Rmb 100 billion.

The new energy vehicle market recovered in August

In August, the number of consumers with intentions to purchase new energy vehicles increased by 22.3% from last month. The sales continued to rise and the growth rate continued to expand. In August, the purchase intentions for pure electric vehicles accounted for 71.2% of the total, a slight increase of 3.5 percentage points from the previous month; the purchase intentions for plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for 27.5% of the total, a slight decrease of 3.8 percentage points from the previous month; and the share of potential users for range-extended models was only 1.2%..

Dongfeng Venucia will launch the battery swapping taxis

On September 1, Dongfeng Venucia Motor Co., Ltd., Guangzhou Taxi Association, and Aulton New Energy Automotive Technology Co., Ltd. formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Huadu of Guangzhou. In the future, the three parties will jointly conduct R&D and production, the establishment of battery swapping station networks and leasing businesses based on their respective advantageous resources.

XPENG released the battery leasing program

XPENG announced that it will formally launch the battery rental service. It is has currently started the pilot services in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Wuxi, Ningbo, Foshan, Dongguan, Wuhan, and Chengdu. The models involved include the G3 520i series (Yuexiang Version/Zhixiang Version/ Premium Version) models, the P7 four-wheel drive high-performance series models, and the rear-wheel drive ultra-long battery life series models.

Yudo EV has been collected as one of the models to be promoted in rural areas

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers has released the List of the Second Batch of New Energy Vehicle Companies and Models to be promoted in Rural Areas. Yudo Auto's premium electric car (π1 Pro) is listed on the directory. This model uses a new generation of upgraded drive system; and the range at NEDC mode is 430km, and is also equipped with an optional energy-saving driving mode and an efficient energy recovery system.

Tesla Shanghai will start the production of Model Y soon

On September 2, Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory announced that its environmental assessment report for the manufacturing of the new models had been approved by Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment. The estimated construction period is 6 months, and the construction will be completed in March 2021.

The State Council: To support the Internet of Vehicles and the Application of Autonomous Driving Map

On September 7, the State Council approved the Working Program to deepen Beijing's New Round of Service Industry Expansion and Open the Comprehensive Pilot Zones. The program proposes to open the domestic Internet virtual special network business to foreign investors (the proportion of foreign shares does not exceed 50%); support the development of Internet of Vehicles (intelligent connected vehicles) and autonomous driving map applications, and build Beijing-Shanghai Internet of Vehicles highways, and explore the establishment of a website filing system that meets the needs of overseas customers.

Hefei issued licenses for road tests for autonomous driving 

On September 4, Anhui Province issued the first batch of licenses for tests on autonomous driving on open roads. 12 enterprises received the licenses , including VW, JAC, Chery, Ankai, Baidu, Didi, NavInfo, Haylion, SENSE Time, Hongjing Drive, Yuchi Intelligent Technology, and Autowise.ai. The first 5G autonomous driving open road demonstration line in Anhui Province has been put into trial operation. The total length of the road is 4.4 km, covering 6 sectors of 5G network coverage, road sensing equipment, roadside traffic facility upgrade, Cloud platform control center, 5G scene application construction, and display office building.

Nio raised new funds of USD 1.7 billion and the reserved cash has exceeded Rmb 20 billion 

On August 31, Nio announced that it will issue 88.5 million new shares with the price of USD 17 per share. The funds raised will be used to increase the shares in Nio China, exercise Nio China’s share repurchase rights, and increase the funds in research and development of autonomous driving technology and the expansion of the global market.

FAW Jiefang and Zhitu Technology jointly release the world's first L3 mass-produced super truck

On September 6, FAW Jiefang’s L3 J7 super truck was formally released. This is the world’s first mass-produced self-driving heavy truck (L3). It was jointly developed by FAW Jiefang and Zhitu Technology. Of which, FAW Jiefang provided by-wire platform for the complete vehicle and the chassis and Zhitu Technology is responsible for the development of the autonomous driving system.

Ford will use V2X systems in 2020

Ford China formally announced that it will start a Vehicle Infrastructure Cooperative Systems test based on C-V2X on specific open roads in Changsha of Hunan, and will push this function to some Chinese car owners through the infotainment systems by the end of this year. According to the program, Ford China is expected to push the Vehicle Infrastructure Cooperative Systems to car owners through the Ford SYNC+ smart infotainment system by the end of this year.
